Sprucing up Main Highway

grove1
The second of the three Info booths started getting its transformation today. The guys primed it and put the base colors on. Artist Eileen Seitz will then work her magic as she did with the first one, which is in center of town. This booth is on Main Highway, across from Lulu's.

H&H Jewels is enhancing their building with new awnings going up today. This is one of the most historic buildings in the Grove and one the most elegant. It was the original Coconut Grove Bank in the 1800s and now houses the Grove's fine jewelry store.

bank
This old photo, from Arva Moore Parks' new book on Coconut Grove, shows the original bank. You can see that Fuller Street to the left, was not a street at all. It was a little alleyway. Walter DeGarmo designed the bank.
