Arva Moore Parks gives Grove history talk

arva1
Arva Moore Parks read from her new book, "Coconut Grove, Images of America," at Coconut Grove Gallery and Interiors, on Thursday night. Sheila Kuhl and family put on quite a spread for Arva. The Vizcayans were beneficiaries of partial sales that night.

At left, we caught Arva and her husband Bob McCabe enjoying the delicous food privided by the gallery. There was a large buffet and all sorts of wines to enjoy. At right, Pilar Pineres enjoys some of the spread during the cocktail hour, before Arva's talk.

Vizcayans Lynn Wilson, Jim Murphy and Sheila Kuhl, owner of Coconut Grove Gallery and Interiors. Jim is being honored at next month's Vizcayan Ball, for 30 years of dedicated service as a Vizcayan.

Carol Ann Rogers, visiting from Napa Valley, was in town to visit her brother Peter
Laird, center. Janel Kuhl, right, who runs the gallery with her parents Frank and Sheila Kuhl was a perfect hostess. She made us all feel welcome as we entered. It's amazing how large Coconut Grove Gallery and Interiors is, they have expanded over the years and you don't realize the size as you are driving by, but inside it goes on and on, full of art, collectibles and furniture. Their 25th anniversary is coming up soon.

Photographer Tim Walker's work was featured at Thursday night's gathering. From left are Bo Bennet, co-author of the Coconut Grove Book, Ed Leeds of Coconut Grove Gallery and Interiors and Tim Walker.

After the elegant cocktail reception, everyone gathered in the front room, where chairs and sofas were set up. Arva did what she does best -- enthrall the crowd with her stories of Coconut Grove past.
