Kampong Lecture features backyard gardens

Chris Rollins will be speaking at the Kampong for their last Lecture Series of the season. On Thursday, May 19, Chris, the manager of the Fruit and Spice Park, will speak on "Growing Real Food in Your Backyard."

He has managed the park for the past 30 years and knows quite a bit about backyard fruits and veggies.
His collecting trips have taken him to Central America and Southeast Asia. Chris is past president of the Rare Fruit Council International and is co-founder of the Asian Cultural Festival and Tripical Fruit and Vegetable Society of the Redland.

Thursday's lecture will include subject such as growing a garden without using pesticides and it will be explained which plants would work best in your own garden here in South Florida.
Enjoy samples of locally grown fruits and vegetable as the lecture, too. And Kampong Curator David Jones will share what's ripe from the Kampong.

Gates open at 6:30 pm and lecture starts at 7:00 pm. Kampong Fellows and Contributor Members are free. General public: $10 donation.
Please call to reserve your seat: 305.442.7169 or email: kampong@ntbg.org.

The Kampong is located at 4013 S. Douglas Road.
