Here's a great way to get free parking -- go to the car wash across from CVS and leave your car. They usually take an hour or so on a busy day and they'll hold the car for you even if it's done early.
For only $10 bucks, they'll wash the outside, including the wheels and of course you can get more services for a bit more, but it's a great deal to begin with and it's a great place to leave the car when you need the car washed. Kill two birds with one stone.
It's close enough to walk to the restaurants on Commodore Plaza or shop at Caity Marin next door or just hang out in the Grove for awhile. On Saturdays, it's the perfect parking space if you want to go to the green market across the street.
The car wash is cool, they'll park the car when it's done and you can pick it up whenever. I do it all the time. I usually get back just when the car is ready, but if I am a bit late, they are more than fine with it, they have room for the cars to sit and wait until you get back.
