"Cars and Cigars" is new Father's Day theme

The Father's Day celebration in Coconut Grove has added another dimension -- cigar rolling.

There will be cigar rolling stations around the Grove on June 19, along with the vintage car show. The day is now called "Cars and Cigars."

It will all be centered around The Barnacle, but will still include the whole Grove. Grove Bucks as prizes and a golden coconut award for the best car voted on by the public is part of the scenario.

Speaking of The Barnacle, the Mad Hatter Festival is scheduled to be back this fall, probably around Halloween weekend and that too will be at The Barnacle. Plans are in the works and it is in the talking stages now, but hopefully the tents will all be contained in and around The Barnacle property and out on the streets, high school students will be invited to paint in an en plein air contest. More to come . . .
