Camp Honey Shine is back for its 5th year

Camp Honey Shine, the summer camp of the Honey Shine Mentoring Program, kicked off it's first week of camp last week at the Carrollton School in Coconut Grove. This is the fifth year for the summer day camp. At left, a few of the Honey Shine girls proudly pose with "Madeline," the Port of Miami's Peacock on display at Carrollton.

The camp allows Honey Bugs (young girls and women) the opportunity to participate in educational experiences and activities that further enrich their lives and broaden their horizons.

This year's agenda includes field trips to the Fruit and Spice Park, a visit to the new Publix Apron Cooking School and a visit to Biscayne Nature Center among many other things. There are also arts and crafts and fitness, reading and yoga.New this year is the Counselor-in-Training program where Honey Bugs entering grades 10 through 12 can enhance their leadership and communication skills.
