Two opportunities to meet candidates this week

Election day is coming up fast, on November 1, we'll be voting for District 2 Commissioner and this week there are two forums happening that will bring the candidates to the people.

Plan on attending one or both. Above from left are District 2 Candidates: Kate Callahan, Michelle Niemeyer, incumbent Marc Sarnoff, Donna Milo and Williams Armbrister.

First up is this week's Coconut Grove Village Council meeting -- all five District 2 candidates will be on hand to meet and greet the public and to debate the issues. This is at the Sailing Club (2990 S. Bayshore Drive) starting at 7 pm, on Thursday, October 20. David Himmel, Village Council member, will be moderator of this event, as the Village Council chair, Michelle Niemeyer is one of the District 2 candidates.

Then on Friday, October 21, The League of Women Voters of Miami-Dade County and Open Media Miami will be holding a candidates’ forum for the commission seats for District 1 and 2 at the American Legion Post (6445 NE 7 Avenue) from 5:30 to 8:30 pm.

Along with the five District 2 Candidates, will be Incumbent Wilfredo Gort and Shawn Selleck from District 1.

Tell the candidates what you want them to talk about you may submit your questions to: news@openmediamiami.com, or post it on their Facebook wall at www.Facebook.com/OpenMediaMiami.

Early voting opens Saturday, October 22, so this is the perfect opportunity to meet the candidates and you have not one, but two opportunities this week to do so.
