Pan Am weekend in Coconut Grove

panam3
This weekend there are hundreds of former Pan Am airline employees in Coconut Grove for their big family reunion. They are all over the place. Ground zero are the Marriott Courtyard and Mutiny Hotels. I stopped by the Marriott Thursday night and it was full of people. As you drove up to the hotel, there were a bunch of guys directing parking with those orange batons you see at airports, the things they direct the planes with.

There's a big event tonight at the hanger at Shake-A-Leg Miami and it looks as if a lot of businesses in the Grove are getting into the act. I noticed that they have a lot of memorabilia at the Mayfair Antique Market. There are model planes, paintings, playing cards and lots of chotskis from Pan Am and other airlines, they are the real deal - some nice souvenirs for the visiting Pan Am crowd.

The Antique Market is at the Mayfair Promenade. Open all weekend from 11 am to 6 pm.
