Something was missing from Saturday's Gallery Walk -- the Art Stroll at the Mayfair Promenade.
This was a separate event, run by Johnny Valdez, of Artway 66 Gallery, which is in the Promenade. It was actually the forerunner of the Gallery Walk.
The Promenade used to be filled with art and music and food and lots of people. This past Saturday it was like a ghost town. The Music Academy did have their concert at the very end of the Promenade by the fountain, but the rest of the excitement was gone. It was dead -- blah.
Apparently there is no funding left for this event and it sorely is hurting the Gallery Walk in my opinion. Hopefully funding can be found somewhere and the art and live music and liveliness will return to the Promenade soon.
