It's beginning to look a lot like fall

halloween
As the temps drop up north and the leaves begin to change colors, the northerners can tell fall is arriving. If you've been in South Florida long enough you can feel it here, too. The light looks different, the humidity goes down, there is just a feel in the air.

But also, down here, we can tell it's fall because the Halloween store opens for business. They're back and plan to open in a couple of weeks right at the former Sephora space next to 24 Hour Fitness on Grand Avenue. This has got to be my favorite scene of the year. Actually, it's my second favorite. My favorite is when the pumpkins arrive at the Boys & Girls Clubs on 32nd Avenue.

The Fresh Market gets their pumpkins first and they are all piled up and colorful outside the store usually in early October, but for some reason, the best part is when the Boys & Girls Clubs put up their tent and unload the pumpkins. Then it feels like fall here!

The bars and restaurants are trying to come up with some sort of new plan this year for Halloween in Coconut Grove that will spread the crowd out from the spot in the center of town. They want people to come, but they want people to have fun all over the village and not just clump up in the one place. We'll have details on the plans soon.
