Chalk it Up! Festival to be part of Mad Hatter

festival5
They do it every year in Lake Worth and I have been talking about bringing it to Coconut Grove for years. It's the Chalk Painting Festival! This is a scene from the last chalk event in Lake Worth. People go all out, incredible works of art transform the streets.

This year, as part of the Mad Hatter Arts Festival on October 29 and 30, Chalk It Up! will be part of the fun. The Grove will finally have it's street painting festival.

Street painting transforms ordinary streets into temporary art galleries.
Chalk It Up! will be held in the parking lot at Grand Avenue and Fuller Street.

If you are interested in participating, they are now accepting applications. The entry deadline is September 25. Please contact Sheri Friedman to participate: 305-794-0329.

Watch Art Happen! is also going to be a great event. It is also on Mad Hatter weekend and it's an en plein air event, where aritsts paint outside, all over the village. Please contact Teresa Sorrentino to participate in this event: 305-528-4971.

Here are photos from February's Chalk Festival in Lake Worth, you can get an idea of what it's all about.
