The Mayfair Hotel (3000 Florida Avenue) has started a Craft Beer Tasting, which will take place every third Wednesday. The first tasting is June 15.
Swaying away from wine tastings that used to lead social gatherings, beer tastings have become more popular especially with the proliferation of microbreweries. The Mayfair's Craft Beer Tastings will offer a sampling of over 40 beers from favorite local microbreweries plus bites from their lobby trattoria Spartico, at just $20 per person.
A certified Cicerone, (beer sommelier) who has been a craft beer enthusiast for 10 years, will be conducting tastings. Dave Crisafi and Chris Montelius will share the duties. Chris will host the first month's tasting. Fresh Beer, an innovative company who supplies beer straight from the brewery to achieve ultimate perfection, will be rotating selections from a vast array of microbrews.
