Charging a fee for comments?

The Sun Chronicle, a Massachusetts newspaper is going to start charging .99 to comment on their newspaper's website. I know most of you are thrilled that our comments section is gone and a few of you want it back. We personally, enjoy life without sifting through many comments a day to come up with the few printable ones. It was turning into a full time job.

The Sun Chronicle will only accept credit cards, so the person commenting will have to reveal all of their real info, including address since the billing address of the credit card must match up to be approved.

This is something to think about. It's not even about the money, it's about having people reveal themselves when they want to say something to the world. It's a one time fee, which allows all the proper ID to be revealed of the person commenting.

We would ask you what you think about this policy, but of course, you can't tell us here since there is no comments section. But you can let us know on our Facebook page.
