Street issues discussed at Village Council meeting

The following issues were discussed at Thursday's Cocoanut Grove Village Council meeting:

The BID has added two police beat walks an hour Thursday through Sunday nights on Matilda Street, the site of dozens of car break ins.

How many city planners does it take to get a simple project going? People have been asking about the 27th Avenue street scape project. The plan is a long drawn out process according to planners. They don't feel that they will have any updates until the end of the year. Business as usual in Miami.

The median on US1 at Bridgeport will be closed. This should calm the traffic that has been using Bridgeport as a shortcut from US1 to Bird Avenue. This has been a major concern to residents.

As for the 32nd Avenue (McDonald Street) sidewalk issue, it is now in Comm. Sarnoff's office and the plan will go ahead. More to come.
