Counting down to the 4th of July, Grove-style

meeting
The 4th of July plans are moving right along. The committee met Wednesday afternoon.

The activities will take place from the Barnacle all the way around to Peacock Park. The Barnacle has their usual day picnic, which ends at 3:30 pm. Then the rest of the Grove's activities take over.

There will be a stage in Peacock Park with a band and performers and there will be vendors and lots of other activities in the park, including a kiddie area, where all the games and rides will be accessed by one price. Each child will get a wrist band and will be able to participate all day long by just showing the wrist band to the ride operators.

A bunch of Grove merchants will have booths in the park where food and drinks will be sold.

Fireworks should start around 9 pm but before then, in other areas of the Grove, there will be a coconut scavenger hunt, a hot dog eating contest, maybe in front of CocoWalk and quite a few other things to keep people busy.

At one point, probably later in the evening, maybe right during or before fireworks, Commodore Plaza will shut down. The party will come out to the street and that will go on until 3 am.

It should be a fun filled red, white and blue day with something for everyone starting in the morning and ending in the wee hours.
