Last night it seemed that not many people took part in Earth Hour. While many did turn lights out and use candles and things like that, most of the Grove did not participate. At the last minute, the movie was pulled at the Arts and Minds Center because of conflicting plans and the movie at CocoWalk was also scrubbed. Only the Bookstore showed a movie -- Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth."
The Chamber gave out mini flashlights to businesses to have them hand out and they had stickers that said, "I'm not afraid of the dark." I think most were afraid of the dark, since they left the lights on and decided not to participate. Come back in a bit, I have a letter sent in from a reader who was totally disappointed in the Grove's efforts on Earth Hour.
Above are Aurielia Gheba and Sam Goodson at Greenstreet, who actually participated by going dark and having an acoustic band and even having Earth Hour specials. Martin and Rick in Earth Hour t-shirts, actually walked around the Grove, looking for participating locations.
