Quick police work solves Grove Grinch case

The police have really been on top of it these days, they put a quick end to the Coconut Grove Grinch, who has been burglarizing houses, mostly in the North Grove.

A home in the North Grove was broken into last weekend. an expensive racing bike, deep sea fishing poles and a collection of power tools were stolen. The neighbor called the non-emergency number at 7:20 am and at 7:45, there were three squad cars and a CSI van at his house.

Sergeant Joe Guell filed the report and followed up on his own time the next day. The police set up an undercover operation that night at 10 pm and by 3 am, the police had captured the burglar and recovered the fishing gear. They know where the bike was fenced and will return that shortly. Three days and the crime was solved!

I was with Sgt. Guell last week, he saw I was with a friend who had his bike stolen recently. Sgt. Guell asked my friend about his stolen bike, he took out a pad and took more notes and a more detailed descriptions -- always on the job.

Perhaps if the neighborhood watch groups would include everyone in their emails and not pick and choose who receives them, there would be more people alerted and more eyes on the streets. I would like to be added today, please, to everyone's list. Thanks.
