Grovites introduce "Bikers Guide to the Keys"

Bob Gilmore (right) with Kelly Smith, two old-time Grovites put together a new book called "Bikers Guide to the Keys." They generously gave me a copy the other night.

While I am not a biker, I do ride my bicycle and drive and boat sometimes and this book is perfect for all of that.

The book is a guide to the top 27 bars/restaurants in the Florida Keys and it opens up a new world of places that even the locals in the Keys may not know about.

It's sort of a bar crawl book because there are pages in the book that the bars will stamp after you have visited. After you have visited all 27 locations, you will receive a "Passport to the Keys" patch, which is a beautiful embroidered piece that will only be sported by an elite group.

Learn about the character and characters of the Keys. There are maps of each island with the locations pinpointed. Cowboy Bill's Honky Tonk Saloon, Irish Kevin's Hog's Breath, they're all in there.

Many of they deals are buy one get one free. My brother owned a bar years ago and they had the "Tour de Brews," which was sort of like this but with all the variety of beers in the bar, you would drink your way through each brand and win prizes. This is sort of the same and it's a great way to explore the Florida keys through two great Grovites.

You can purchase the book on line at
http://bikersguidefloridakeys.com or stop in The Bookstore in the Grove at 3399 Virginia Street, where you can pick one up. It's a great Christmas gift idea for anyone who loves South Florida.
