Artists chosen for upcoming Grove Arts Festival

You may remember, in October, we sat in on the two-day blind judging process for the upcoming 48th Annual Coconut Grove Arts Festival (article here). Well the artists have been chosen for the festival to be held February 19 to 21, 2011.

Out of 1232 applicants, 360 were chosen from the US and Canada. Over 100 of the artists chosen are from Florida and 19 are from the Miami area. Hans Feyerabend, Dan Bondroff and George Rodez are three Coconut Grove artists chosen.

“Our arts festival brings the most talented and creative artists from all over the world to Coconut Grove,” said Monty Trainer, president of the Arts Festival. “South Floridians have a great appreciation of the arts, and every year we are proud to welcome artists who exhibit for the first time.” Complementing the visual arts on display is the popular Culinary Pavilion which invites world-renowned chefs to prepare their famous dishes and explain their specialties. This year’s chefs will represent successful restaurants and hotels from South Florida, including some nationally recognized authors.

Earlier this year, the Coconut Grove Arts Festival was named one of the top three fine arts festivals in the nation by Sunshine Artist Magazine. The Arts Festival was voted one of the best fine art shows for the seventh year and remains the top fine art event in the history of the magazine’s 200 Best.

Admission to the festival is $10 per person, per day. Children 12 and under are free. Grove residents will enjoy a reduced rate of $5.00.
