The Arva Moore Parks book release event is tomorrow night, September 30, at The Bookstore in the Grove (3399 Virginia Street) at 7 pm for her new book on Coconut Grove. The book is mostly old photos, with text, too, going back to the 1800s, so many of the locations are still around today, it's a very interesting history tour.Local musician, Bobby Ingram, who is also featured in the book, will be performing, and Bo Bennett, Arva's co-editor will be on hand, too.
Miami Pioneers / Natives Of Dade meets every first Sunday of the month to hear guest speakers and talk about “old” Miami. Arva is the guest speaker this Sunday, October 3, where she will talk about the Grove book. If you can't make the Grove Bookstore event, this is a second chance. It's more of a “lecture,” than a book signing. It’s free and open to the public. Meetings begin at 2 pm at the Central Christian Church of Coral Gables (222 Menores Avenue).
