Village Council needs to find a home

The Village Council is on the move again. Thursday's meeting was at Ransom Everglades, but the school will be renovating the auditorium over the summer, so the next Village Council meeting may be at The Grove Spot. Four of the five members present chose The Grove Spot (Patrick Sessions, Michelle Niemeyer, David Collins and Renita Samuels Dixon), while Heather Bettner felt that while she loves The Grove Spot, the Council needs a more formal venue.

The Council needs to find a new home now that the City has thrown them out of City Hall. The City's new rule is one meeting a year at City Hall on a Friday no less, from 9 am to 8 pm. The City seems to be telling them something and it's not good.

At least they did get the April meeting in on a Thursday night, but now they are out for who knows how long. We do know that there are rumblings about the way the Council is being treated and it doesn't look good for City Hall when the voters think something is fishy.

But for now, the Village Council may end up roving and having meetings in different areas to accommodate different neighborhood groups. The Grove Spot will be more convenient than Ransom and perhaps more people will participate.

There were three media folks covering the last meeting so even though the meetings are not shown on tv, they news is getting out there, along with us, there was a report from the Herald and also one from the Grand Avenue News. But to tell you the truth, there wasn't much news coming out of the Village Council last week, things are a bit slow.
