Entertainment Symposium to take place in Grove

The inaugural Business of Entertainment Symposium is taking place at the Mayfair Hotel on Tuesday, May 25.The conference will focus on the new five year $242 million tax credit incentive program for the film industry. Along with the tax credit discussion, they will be offering breakout sessions on many topics of interest to the production community. The entire day is free to local film, television, commercial, digital media, and music video production professionals.

It's nice to see Coconut Grove playing a prominent part in the film industry from the filming of
Burn Notice all over the Village (they did a lot of shooting yesterday -- guns and cameras -- at the Seminole Boat Ramp), to the recent Film Community Meeting at the Museum of Science and now this symposium.

Regarding the symposium, Jeff Peel, director of the county's office of Film and Entertainment, says, “We view this conference as a valuable jumpstart for film, television and commercial producers who want to take advantage of the new tax credit program and help bring new projects, direct spending, and jobs to Miami-Dade County."

Experts and senior executives from Tax Credits LLC, a tax credit placement company will join the panel discussion on the tax program, which will explain step-by-step the process. The conference will wind up with a VIP cocktail reception at the rooftop cabanas and pool atop the Mayfair.
