Rusty Pelican "Public Space Challenge" Happy Hour

The Miami Foundation has teamed up with The Miami New Times to promote the Our Miami Public Space Challenge. Join in for Happy Hour at The Rusty Pelican (3201 Rickenbacker Cswy.) on Thursday, September 12, from 6 to 9 pm

Connect with likeminded Miamians who participate in the Public Space Challenge to share ideas and envision our Miami with new and improved public spaces.

Enjoy complimentary Sngria, Mojitos, Strawberry Mules, beer and house wine. Appetizers include Paella, Ceviche and Tartare, Serrano Ham, Croquetas, Short Rib Empanadas, Pistachio Crusted Scallops and more.

Click here to RSVP.  NOTE: THIS MAY BE SOLD OUT.

The concept of the challenge is to come up with "feasible, creative ideas for a shared public space that can give a specific neighborhood a meaningful boost in livability and identity." They want to create neighborhood public spaces that are pedestrian-friendly and have a community feel.

While parks come to mind, they are looking for something different. Think about a space where locals gather and mix and mingle. Where is that, is it here, does it need to be created?

Entries may be submitted here: www.ourmiami.org. Photos and videos may be submitted. And the winner will receive $100,000 if one or more of the winning entries is built.

A panel of community representatives and professionals will select winners by early October. The number of winners will depend on the number of outstanding, feasible submissions and how much money they require to be implemented.

The Our Miami Public Space Challenge partnered with ioby to conduct training sessions teaching how to map your best public space ideas.
