Celebrate Shakespeare's birthday at The Barnacle

Shakespeare Miami and The Barnacle State Historic State Park invites you to celebrate William Shakespeare’s birthday with a day of poetry, drama, fairies and fun. This is Saturday, April 27, rain or shine, from noon to 7:00 pm.

There will be activities all day from a Sonnet Walk to ongoing scenes from Shakespeare and poetry recitations. From 5 to 7 pm, there will be a full staged reading of Shakespeare's "The Tempest."

Admission is free (with park admission $2 for ages 6 and up. Kids free.)

This event is for Shakespeare fans of all ages. Come in costume if you wish, or try on one that they will have on hand in the Shakespeare Photo booth.

Ages 2 and up: Children’s activity area, Fairy garden and Tea with Mr. Shakespeare 
Ages 6 to Adult: Learn to “sword fight” or dance to a Renaissance tune. Rat Pucking, 
Tea with Mr. Shakespeare and The Fairy Garden.
Teens & Adults: Stage combat demonstrations, Rat Pucking, Renaissance Dance, Costume contest, Tea with Mr. Shakespeare.

Shakespeare Miami’s Company members and professional actors from across South Florida will present Sonnets, and Scenes from Romeo & Juliet, Othello, Macbeth, The Tempest, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and more.   

Community members will participate in the National Poetry Month celebration by reading poems by or inspired by Shakespeare.
The week before, on Sunday, April 21 from  11 am to 4 pm, The Barnacle is celebrating Earth Day. Celebrate all things Green at The Barnacle. Visit displays by local non-profits, environmental groups, and green businesses, and enjoy crafts, games, food, and live music by Grant Livingston. Picnics and leashed pets welcome.
