Special premier of "Bots High" this Saturday night

This Saturday, February 26, "Bots High," will premiere at Paragon Grove 13 at CocoWalk. It's a documentary that follows three high school robotics teams battling for first place at the national robotics competition in Miami.

Bots High's world-premiere is at 7:30 pm. The robot teams featured in the film will be in attendance, along with press, the Director of BotsIQ, and co-creators of the TV show BattleBots.

Bots High follows students as they design, build and compete at the National BotsIQ competition -- all while surviving high school, first love, and of course procrastination. Cameras followed the teams from Miami area high schools for nine months beginning in September 2009. Students build weaponized robots that battle each other in an arena until either one is destroyed, or a panel of three judges chooses a winner.

Director Joey Daoud (shown here) followed students with a single camera, from robot design through late nights spent cramming before the national competition. Special camera rigs were created including a crash house for a Flip camera that was in the arena getting smashed up by robots. The results are amazing.
