The locals are the Grove's worst enemy

I always enjoy and appreciate how you put a positive spin on the area and people of Coconut Grove. My wife and I have been living here in the Grove for nearly 4 months and with the exception of some ignorant individuals that I'd like to point out below, we, like you, love Coconut Grove. As previously mentioned, we have had some encounters with individuals whom give this town a bad name and I'm hoping that by writing this, some may at a minimum, think before they speak or act.

About two months ago, we had friends in town and wanted to take them out so we drove down and tried to park in the lot just off Main Highway, we pulled down through the lot and a person came out from one of the buildings even further up and proceeded to direct us to park behind cars lined up on the right. He kept saying closer closer and when I simply stated that I wanted to leave enough room to get out later, the person replied sharply with "then turn around and leave" and then he just walked away. I was embarrassed and our friends whom are from the Baltimore area stated that we should teach that person some manners to which we just left and parked somewhere else.

Last night we went out for the Gallery Walk; we first enjoyed a frozen yogurt at Red Kiwi around 8 pm then made our way from gallery to gallery from Commodore Plaza back to Grand Ave. At 9:45, we walked through the open door of [one gallery] and were greeted abruptly with "We're closed next time come here first." We left but wondered why the tone was harsh and why the unnecessary comment. We also noticed numerous people still in the Gallery and the time of 9:45 that would have allowed sufficient time for us to browse. The person who spoke had to of looked as rude to the numerous individuals in the Gallery as she had to us. [Editor's note, the Gallery Walk is from 7 to 10 pm].

We then went to the Cheesecake Factory for a drink and apps. On our walk home on Virginia St, we witnessed a person urinating in front of a parked car on the street just beyond the Grove Spot only steps from public facilities. These people have no idea the damage they cause to those people we want in Coconut Grove; if I didn't live here, I would likely think twice before coming back.
