GroveHouse artists celebrate anniversary by giving

art1
Last night, the GroveHouse Artists celebrated their 6th year anniversary during the Coconut Grove Gallery Walk, and to celebrate, they gave to a worthy cause.

Terry Mulrooney, one of the GroveHouse artists, left, presents Kristina Mills, President of the UM Black Law Students Association, a piece of art (President Obama) she created as a donation for "Supporting Our Sisters," a fundraising brunch for "Miami Law Women in Need." The other piece was donated by GroveHouse artist Audrey Scott.

The brunch is hosted by the University of Miami School of Law, Miami Law Women (MLW) and Black Law Students Association (BLSA). MLW and BLSA were contacted by the UM administration to discuss correspondence from female alumnae facing health problems, who are having trouble making ends meet while they are ill.

They felt that it was important for UM Law alumnae to be able to look to their alma mater in their hour of need. Together with the administration, the executive boards of the two organizations have worked tirelessly to plan a fundraising brunch, the proceeds from which will go towards helping these women and future women in need.

The inaugural brunch will be held at Coverings (7610 NE 4 Ct.) on Sunday, February 13, from 10 am to 2 pm. A silent auction will feature the pieces of art donated by Terry and Audrey, along with other items from Tiffany, Brooks Brothers, Armani makeup, Belegenza Extraordinary Hair Care and many others.

Checks for tickets or donations should be made payable to: “University of Miami School of Law” with “Miami Law Women” written in the subject line. Payments can be mailed in advance to:
