Historical and perspective lecture at The Kampong

The Kampong's lecture series continues on Thursday, February 17 with "The Kampong: Historical and Horticultural Perspective." Larry Schokman, left, Director Emeritus will share his stories and images of this historical home and garden.

The Kampong, at 4013 S. Douglas Road, is nearly 100 years old, from the original purchase by David and Marian Fairchild. Walk back in time to see how the home looked when the Fairchild family lived there. You’ll also see images of the famous 1940 Cheng Ho expedition to the Moluccas;

Larry discovered these old slides in one of the closets.

The Kampong is known for its horticultural practices and Larry shares some of his gardening secrets from the past 35 years.
