The Friends of Peacock Park are meeting at the Glass House this afternoon, October 4, from 4 to 5 pm. The discussion is about the future of the Glass House. A restaurant is planned for the property and many would like to see it as a community center instead.
At a recent Merchants Group forum, both Mayoral Candidates, Tomás Regalado and Joe Sanchez, felt that the Glass House should not be handed over to a private business. They would like it to remain in the public's hands.
Joe Sanchez suggested a community center like one in his district that offers art classes, computer classes, parties, and so forth. They did say maybe a small snack bar as part of the plans would be acceptable, but not a full out privately owned restaurant. Regalado agreed with this.
