Celebrate Commodore's 160th birthday!

Celebrate Commodore Ralph Middleton Munroe's 160th birthday at The Barnacle on Sunday, April 10.

The Commodore was a Grove pioneer who built The Barnacle as his family home in 1891. Each year, The Barnacle celebrates the Grove's leading citizen's birthday right on site on the big back lawn of the historical grounds.

If you watch the tv show, you'll remember contestant Howie Kleinberg -- his Bulldog BBQ will be catering the event. Bulldog BBQ was named one of Bon Appetite magazine's "Top 10 barbecue restaurants in America, in 2009. Live music will be provided by American Celtic Rock band Three Jacks and of course there is a birthday cake.

Admission is $30 for members of The Barnacle Society, and $45 at the door for non-members; $10 children 10 and under. The party starts at 6 pm.

The Barnacle Historic State Park is located at 3485 Main Highway. Proceeds from this event support preservation of The Barnacle. For additional information call 305-442-6866.
