“Wild About Kids” Gala celebrating five years

On Saturday, Nov. 12, attendees of Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s Fifth Annual “Wild About Kids” gala will have the opportunity to raise funds for positive programs for area children who need them the most. They will also enjoy an elegant evening complete with dinner, dancing, auctions and more.

The gala will take place at The Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove (3300 SW 27 Avenue). The evening will commence with a red carpet welcome and cocktail reception at 7 pm. At 8 pm, guests will enjoy a delicious dinner, as well as dancing, silent and live auctions featuring one-of-a
kind items, and more. They will be entertained by live music in the spirit of the celebration of youth in the South Florida community.

During the gala, attendees will have the chance to sponsor a child through donations. Some children who are involved with Boys & Girls Clubs will also be a part of the event. Additionally,
the Marlins will unveil their new logo at the gala.

Lots of surprises are in store for this year’s attendees. Upon departure, guests will enjoy a signature “Wild About Kids” gala tradition: delicious hot cocoa served in the valet area.

Gala attendees will include some of South Florida’s top community leaders. Lynn Martinez, anchor of WSVN-TV Channel 7 Miami/Ft. Lauderdale’s Deco Drive, will serve as the emcee of the event. WSVN, the gala’s Media Sponsor, is preparing and sponsoring a documentary-style piece showcasing success stories about a few children in Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade, which will run throughout the evening.

The gala is chaired by club board member S. Shawn Khosravi, president of Bankers Companies.

“We’re anticipating that this year’s gala will be the most spectacular to date,” said Khosravi. “The evening will provide a wonderful chance for guests to see how they can really make a difference in the lives of local children, and inspire them to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.”

Gala proceeds will benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade. What makes the organization critically important is its effectiveness in having programs that promote the development of young people by instilling a sense of competence, a sense of usefulness, a sense of belonging and a sense of power or influence. In addition to the arts, sports and recreational programs, it also offers programs that promote character and leadership development, education and computer skills, and health and life skills.

Gala tickets are priced at $300 per person. For tickets or sponsorship opportunities, please contact Astrid H. Ehrenstein at 305-446-9910, ext. 30 or e-mail aehrenstein@bgcmia.org.
