Painted fiberglass peacocks to be auctioned off

peacocks
After all these months of having our fiberglass peacock mascots decorate the streets of Coconut Grove, the Peacock Tour is coming to an end. The auction for the birds is Wednesday, March 16 at Paragon Theater at CocoWalk. What started at the highly anticipated Vernissage last March now comes to the final phase. I remember being there the first day that the first peacock arrived. I helped take it out of the box.

The auction event starts with a cocktail reception at Paragon's Back Lot Wine Bar at 6:00 pm and then moves into one of the theaters for the actual auction.

Weatherman Bob Soper will be the auctioneer for the evening, he was auctioneer for Coral Gables' flamingos. Each peacock will be presented and bid on. All proceeds will benefit charities like Shake-A-Leg, the Miami Heat Foundation, Casa Valentina and the Coconut Grove Woman's Club.

There is a red carpet, that everyone will walk as they enter and along with a photo op. Swag bags will await attendees as they leave and prizes will be given for spa package, hotel stays and restaurant gift certificates.

Tickets are limited, to purchase them, please go to
