The Kampong's next lecture in their series is with Craig Morell on Thursday, January 20.
Craig will share his vision of what is now Pinecrest Gardens, we all grew up with it as being the Parrot Jungle. Craig is the horticulturist at the gardens and has been renovating the the park since 2004, a year after the Village of Pinecrest took over the property. It was turned from the Parrot Jungle to the beautiful botanical garden that it is today.
Craig will speak on the wide variety of disciplines and the community support needed to keep the place so lush. A lifelong plant collector, he has a B.S. degree in Horticulture from the University of Florida in Gainesville. As a career horticulturist, he travels widely, and spends his free time growing an incredible orchid gardening at home in South Miami.
The Kampong (4013 S. Douglas Road) will open at 6:30 pm on Thursday and the lecture begins at 7 pm. Tickets are $10.
