Looking for things from the past

This morning, I was chatting with a friend in the Center Grove and a guy came up to us asking if we knew where the nearest record store was. He was looking for CD's not records.

We couldn't tell him, even Spec's was knocked down in S. Miami recently. The guy had been all over the Grove looking for things from the past. I can't remember what else he had been looking for, it almost seemed like a scavenger hunt, but it wasn't.  Then he mentioned Yucky's and he sarcastically said, "I bet Yucky's is gone, too!" But we were happy to tell him that it's still there. It just changed hands, but it's there as Lucky 14 Gifts. I have sent quite a few people there already, I never realized how popular the place was/is.

As for the records and CD's we ended up sending the guy to Target, I suggested Dadeland, but he was headed north, so I told him about the store in Midtown.

It' got us to thinking of all the obsolete things that were once a part of our lives and then within a few years or even 100 years, came and went like VCR's, typewriters, payphones, film, faxes? What else?
