Village West land back on the market

So the land on Grand Avenue in Village West is back on the market, the sign reads, “BACK ON THE MARKET! Past group actually never bought this land. NOW IT’S YOUR CHANCE.”

It's a shame that so much of that end of Coconut Grove has been destroyed, people have been displaced and the land just sits. It was supposed to be a large multi use development, called Grove Village (something like this rendering), including a Publix and lots of shops and apartments. Then people even had dreams of a Trader Joe's. Neighbors worried about their homes backing up to large retail buildings and parking lots and so far, it just sits as empty land.

The county's moratorium on sewer hookups is being blamed along with other reasons. But maybe the Universe is telling people something.

As they say, 90% of things we worry about, never come to pass.

A friend had a idea of making it into movie and tv studios, to bring in Hollywood productions, like the Expo Center does now with Burn Notice. You know, line up the big sound stages up and down the vacant land that is there now.

Here is the Miami Herald story about the land for sale.
