Wine for any occasion offered at Wine . . . etc.

The new wine store, called Wine . . . etc., is opening next Tuesday at 3197 Commodore Plaza, but you may find Eduardo Mello, owner, there this weekend, handing out wine tastings. That's Eduardo above, in the center, with Ali and Danny, the triumvirate of the corner of Grand and Commdore now. Ali is the landlord, and Danny owns Bombay Darbar, next door. That's a coffee tree behind them.

The wines at Wine . . . etc. are priced from $7 to $50 per bottle. Eduardo plans to have a few bottles open each day for free tastings and every weekend he'll have major tastings.

Wines featured come from all over including California, France, Spain, Australia, Chili, Italy, and so many more places. There surely is something for everyone. I witnessed a sale to a prominent hotel owner last night who had come looking for his usual $200 bottle but ended up with a $30 bottle of an Oregon Merlot, a better wine than his usual, at a fraction of the price. Eduardo tells me it is about the quality of wine he sells and not about overpricing it.

The store will feature cheese and grapes and eventually will sell cigars, too. With the purchase of certain bottles of wine, Eduardo is giving a gift of four Govino wine glasses, which are made of recycled material, they are shatterproof and light weight. They are not glass at all, but made from a food-safe BPA-free polymer material. Stopy by and check that out.

While opening Tuesday, Wine . . . etc. plans to be open during Saturday's Gallery Walk this weekend.
