St. Stephen's art poster unveiling is tonight

Each year, the artwork of one of the exhibiting artists from the St. Stephen’s Art Show is selected to be featured as the show’s main poster. Today, February 9, starting at 6:30 pm, festival committee members, volunteers, Coconut Grove patrons and members of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church will gather to celebrate the unveiling of this year’s chosen design. It's at the churche's Nepenthe Garden (2750 McFarlane Road). The photograph by Carlos Cuba, entitled "Pathway to Paradise," was selected as the show’s 2012 “Show Poster.”

Cuba’s inspiration for this piece came from an early morning walk on the pier. “As I reached the very end, I remember thinking to myself, ‘this is paradise’. I got my camera, exposed the film and the rest is history,” says Cuba. “This will be my second year at St. Stephens and I am extremely honored and thrilled to be chosen as this year’s show poster. The foot traffic at St. Stephen’s Art show is incredible and nonstop, and I am looking forward to it very much,” adds Cuba.

Cuba has been “painting with film” for over thirty years. His passion started at the age of thirteen. Throughout the years his talent and desire grew as he developed his own unique style. This same desire has made him into a multi-talented photographer, whereby he not only creates fine works of art but has also satisfied many photographic corporate needs as well as portraiture. He has won many awards from organizations such as; Professional Photographers of America, South Eastern Professional Photographers and Florida Professional Photographers. He has been interviewed on television and has had photographs published in magazines, and his prints have also appeared in the National Print Collection Book.

The 24th annual St. Stephen’s Art show is presented by St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, a resident in Coconut Grove, for over 100 years. The three-day long festival, taking place Saturday, February 18 through Monday, February 20, 2012, is one of South Florida’s most popular outdoor arts festivals, which takes place on the grounds of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church (2750 McFarlane Road) in the heart of Coconut Grove, Florida.
