Volunteer for Tree Watch this weekend

TreeWatch has a plan for this coming Art Festival weekend to further their petition drive with the thousands of people that come to the Art Festival.

They have an ideal location near one of the entrances at Mary Street and South Bayshore Drive, where they can set up a couple chairs and tables and capture signatures as people enter the festival.

Depending on how many people they get to volunteer, TreeWatch can set up similarly at 27th Avenue (in front of Ritz Carlton) and at McFarlane Road, at that entrance.

10,000 postcards are being printed, which explain TreeWatch's mission with visuals, and also directs people where to go to "like them" on Facebook, and turn others on to the online petition to save the trees. Best of all, once they are done with the postcards, they can stick a stamp on it and mail it to our commissioner to send him a direct message!

So tomorrow evening, Wednesday, February 15, there will be an informal meeting at Calamari, in the Bar area from 6 - 8 pm (they have happy hour from 4-8), so you can relax, have a drink and have a little strategy session.

They need clipboards and volunteers to engage festival attendees.

Please email TreeWatch and let them know if you can make it tomorrow (
grovetreewatch@aol.com).

If you cannot attend the meeting, please let them know if you are available this weekend to sit and enjoy the weather, and engage attendees to sign the petition for a couple of hours during the weekend.

Ideally, there should have about three people per shift, so engage your friends and family. Please specify Saturday, Sunday or Monday at any of these shifts: 11 am to 1 pm, 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm, 2:00-4:00 pm, 3:30 to 5:30 pm, 4:00 to 6:00 pm (catching people on the way out).
