GablesStage to take over Grove Playhouse

GablesStage and it's producing artistic director, Joseph Adler are taking over the Coconut Grove Playhouse.

Adler was chosen by the Playhouse board. $20 million will be used, which was designated by Miami-Dade County's capital-improvement funds in 2004.

The current 1100-seat theater will be replaced with a 300-seat theater and possibly a 600-seat theater.

The current facade is going to be kept and will be incorporated into the new structure. After the St. Stephen's fiasco, I belive them.

The Aries Development Group, which will develop the property could add restaurants, condos, shops and more to the larger complex which extends way back onto Charles Street.

The Herald has more details here.
