"The American Color Mural" unveiled

The Peace Mural was unveiled on Saturday at the Miami Art Palace (7900 SW 77 Avenue).

The Peace Mural Foundation is about the human rights campaign, "The American Color Mural," measures 50' x 8'. It was conceived after the catastrophic event of Trayvon Martin's death. Artist Huong (shown above with mural) and her interns Jesse Paz, Stephenie Figueroa Ramos, Bryan A. Palacio, Joanna Ruffin, Bijal Mehta and Julietta Crespo have fervently created pieces of work meant to inspire understanding and equality. Using images of important figures throughout U.S history as well as famous quotes on racism, Huong has created a mural unlike any other to date to tackle on the nation's current issue.

The Peace Mural Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting awareness of human pain and suffering through the medium of art. Huong is a Vietnam War refugee, philanthropist, artist, and peace activist. She has dedicated her life to ensuring that through her work, others learn of the hardships of the world.

The foundation is staffed by all 100% volunteer and supported by public donations. Huong has already received praise for her murals covering The words of Peace, the war in Iraq, President Obama's Inauguration, the BP oil spill, and immigration. She has had over 100 exhibitions in her 30-year career spanning all across the country from Florida to Alaska, and from museums to the rotunda in the Capitol in Washington, D.C.

The mural will be unveiled to public in the Capitol in Tallahassee, presented by the Dream Defenders. Then it will travel across the country spreading awareness on the hideous effects that racism and inequality has on our country.
