Last year, three time Indy 500 Winner and Dancing with the Stars winner, Helio Castroneves was the Grand Marshall of The Great Grove Bed Race. Here he is at the press conference. Who will be the Grand Marshall this year?
The rules sub-committe met recently and all the bed building rules are the same so far, but there are now men's and women's divisions and a co-ed divison (where two of the same sex must be part of the five members).
Being considered is a corporate division, where large businesses and corporations will race against each other, these will be co-ed and anyone who works for the corporation would be able to be a team member.
This year, hopefully at least one bed building workshop will happen. "Get Rolling Gatherings" are planned which may encompass a workshop at one of them. The gatherings are basically pep rallys and nights out to build a buzz and promote the Bed Race.
The Great Grove Bed Race is on Labor Day weekend again this year. The Race is September 5, the Pajama Pub Crawl is the night before and there are other events being planned to go along with the wacky races, like a Family Pajama Party on a closed off Virginia Street.
