Muvico theater to be subject at Village Council tonight

The Village Council meets tonight at City Hall (7 pm).

One interesting thing on the agenda is an update on the Muvico theater coming to CocoWalk next year. Mia Steirheim, leasing manager of CocoWalk, will speak on this.

It looks like the issue with AMC closing for eight months while Muvico renovates may not be an issue now. Apparently Muvico will leave part of the theater open during renovation, allowing for movies to be shown while they rebuild. We'll find out more tonight at the meeting.

The total closing of the theater had been a pressing issue with Grove merchants who were very concerned about the lack of traffic once the theater closed. Outdoor movies, drive-in movies, retro movies were all being discussed as alternatives. While these can still happen, it's good to know the main theater will still be operating in some capacity.

When the new Muvico theater, restaurant and bowling alley complex is completed, probably in a year, 62,000 people per month are expected to come through, bringing a lot of traffic to the Grove.
