Local comic wins first-ever comedy derby
Stand up comedian Johnny “Trabs” Trabanco (right) won the grand prize at the first-ever Comedy Derby competition that took place last week at the Miami Improv in Coconut Grove. After two competitive rounds against some of South Florida’s top comedians, Trabs beat out 14 of his peers to make it to the top and take home the grand prize: an all-expenses paid trip to perform for the weekend at the Improv in Louisville, Kentucky. We hate to ask what the loser got.
Upon winning, Trabs had this to say: “Thank you to all my fans and The Improv staff for a great contest and all the support! All the comics did amazing so I know it was tough. 2010 is the year for Miami Comedy!”
Johnny “Trabs” Trabanco has been performing comedy for over 10 years. He was a member of the improv/sketch comedy troupe IMPROMEDY since 1998-2006 and is now a member to the award winning sketch comedy duo "A Pair of Nuts" with Yamil Piedra since 2003.
