Why we don't like the MPA, the Ticket Nazis

It finally happened -- someone actually got a parking citation while they were at the meter down the block buying the parking ticket!

This happened on Fuller Street, about 10 pm on Saturday night. A guy was paying for parking and when he got back, the nasty meter maid was ticketing his car. She would not take his ticket as proof and she stayed there and argued with the guy for about half an hour. I think he prevailed in the end, no one is sure. But this attitude and the low down practices of the Miami Parking Authority are the reason people avoid Coconut Grove. We know this for a fact.

On Saturday I parked on Rice Street, as usual the meter there was broken so I had to walk around to Oak Avenue to get the parking ticket, I thought to myself, "Sometimes I have to go to two or three meters to find one that works, which brings me far from my parked car, do the meter readers know this? Do they realize people may be around the corner paying for parking because it's the only place to find a working machine?"

And lo and behold, the Ticket Nazi with the citation book did just that to the dude on Fuller Street. No class, no benefit of the doubt, no recourse.
