Woodstock anniversary celebrated in rain
The wind, rain and mud made Peacock Park feel like the real Woodstock 40 years ago. That was the scene last night for the School of Rock's Woodstock celebration in the Grove.
It started off slow, but the hearty souls showed up to party and have fun, many came prepared with large colorful umbrellas and ponchos. Camille and Tristan, above, left, enjoyed the concert and Tristan loved running around in the rain, too. I hung out a bit with the Chamber members at their rum and vodka booth. Willie with Heather (below right), mixed up some nice concoctions with various juices. People started lining up even before the drinks were mixed.
The crowd played in the wet grass, enjoyed the music and ate and drank. Vendors included Jennie and Rosa (above left) from The Grove Store (2759 SW 27 Ave.), the Hard Rock Cafe, Johnny Rockets, Hooters, Smooth King and even Coldstone Creamery had a special booth set up with a marble slab to mix the ice cream flavors.
The bands were incredible they all sounded just like the original 1960s music.
My advantage at all the Grove events, rain or shine are the people, I enjoy hanging with all my friends who do an amazing job putting on the various events around town.
