"Give It Back" event is tonight at the Playhouse

Today is the day, April 2. It's time to save the Coconut Grove Playhouse. The demonstration is from 5:30 to 6:30 pm, try to get there a little earlier. There will be limited parking on site and believe it or not limited valet parking at Calamari (there is a charge for both) But of course, it's best to walk over if you can.

Wear your yellow buttons and wristbands, more will be given out at the event.

Afte the event, Grove restaurants are having an extended happy hour from 6:45 to 8:30 pm, in honor of the Playhouse. Half price drinks will available at Calamari, Lat Bottega, The Taurus, Greenstreets, Lulu, Mr. Moe's, Bice Bistro, Jaguar and Peacock Garden Cafe.

We're told that staring Tuesday, the ubiquitous yellow ribbons will start disappearing from the trees around the Grove, as well as the signs, since the protest is over. As for funding, I asked Nathan Kurland, organizer of the event, who paid for the ribbons, signs (including the hanging banner on Main Highway), buttons and wrapping of the playhouse and was told that local businesses chipped in to pay for it all.

The Herald had an excellent story in yesterday's paper. If you missed it, you can see it
