Movies in the middle of the street? Maybe

There's talk of putting movies on a closed portion of Virginia Street.

The Women's International Film Festival (WIFF) would run the show maybe once a month, on a Friday night. Couches and chairs would be set up and a large sheet or screen would be placed sort of at the exit of the bookstore, maybe a little further toward the Mayfair Hotel.

Local places would sell food and drinks (and popcorn?) on the street and a portion, maybe 10% of sales would go to the Film Festival. The movies would be free and open to the public.

It's in the talking stages now, but since the cooler weather is coming up, this would be the time to do it. The WIFF had been holding the festival at CocoWalk in the past, but with the theater renovation going on, they'll have to hold their festival elsewhere this year. But they are very interested in the street movies.
