Keeping Burn Notice in Florida
Burn Notice fan and Grove resident, State Representative Carlos Lopez-Cantera chats with Burn Notice star Jeffrey Donovan in Tallahassee last week. Carlos is a true Burn Notice fan, and he would like to keep the show filming right here in the Grove. I can remember more than once when he discussed an episode or two with me personally.
Donovan was at the state capitol last week to lobby for more state money and incentives to keep movies and tv filming in Florida.
According to State Film Commissioner Lucia Fishburne, Burn Notice has paid more than $28.4 million in Florida salaries and is responsible for booking over 7,000 hotel room nights as well as millions more spent on production costs, including permits, food, construction, wardrobe, rentals and more.
Burn Notice will receive $5.2 million in incentives out of the state's yearly $10.8 million budget. Guess they will be here for awhile, despite one or two short sighted politicians.
