The World Wildlife Fund's Earth Hour, held March 28 this year, will have the Grove going dark from 8:30 to 9:30 pm. Actually over 240 cities will be going dark in an effort to bring attention to climate change.
Participating businesses will go to candlelight for the hour (kitchens, street lights and other safety lighting will remain on); promotions such as Earth Happy Hour are being pushed. Stores may want to offer "Black Out Sales”, "unplugged" musicians can serenade the crowds. Galleries are encouraged to unite in a creating a Gallery Walk, curate environmental pieces, and such.Last year the art had a special glow shown by candlelight.
Chamber Administrative Director Richard Issa and President Lili Dones serve in the Subcommittee including representatives of organizations and media from throughout the city and county.
