From 'Flip Night' to 'Best Chili' it's The Taurus!

Coconut Grove’s oldest, hidden gem has hit a hot streak with a surge of recent accolades including being named “Best Neighborhood Bar” by The Miami New Times, one of the “Top 25 Sites in Miami” by seemoresights.com, “Fan-Favorite Import Beer” for German Heffeweisser, Erdinger, served exclusively at Taurus, and most-recently, “Best Chili” at the Hot Chili/Cool Cars Contest.

The revitalized Taurus sports an eclectic crowd from hip twenty-somethings to Bucket Listers. The charming and multi-talented staff has worked hard under the new management of Felipe “Flip” Ojeda to cultivate a craft beer selection that is second-to-none in Coconut Grove, including over forty selections from all over the globe. From the laymen, to the beer and liquor connoisseur, the Taurus puts out a cool and welcoming vibe that will make you want to stick around for “Another Round”.

With the recent introduction of “Flip Night” (the customers orders a drink, a coin is flipped, and if the customer guesses correctly, the drink is free) and impromptu jam sessions for local musicians to try out their skills in open mic fashion, Taurus’ Thursday nights have become the newest attraction for people looking for good music and cheap drinks.

Taurus’s signature red lighting will be glowing green this Saturday for what is sure to be a hit, featuring a big St. Patty’s Day party including drink specials on Irish Car Bombs, Jameson’s, Tullamore Dew, and Michael Collins Irish Whiskey. The evening will also feature classic Irish rock all night, courtesy of DJ C Money, as well as a concert at 8:30pm by Bagpiper Patrick Borden, by way of the St. Andrews Pipe Band.

DJ C Money is a familiar face at Taurus, running Wednesday nights’ famed Karaoke/Ladies’ Night that never fails to attract seas of beautiful gals, dressed to the nines for their complimentary Prosecco, well liquor and Miller Lite from 10 pm -12 am every Wednesday night. The night also features some great local talent showing off their pipes for a fun and jam-packed bar crowd.

For more formal concerts, Friday nights have recently been featuring live music including a variety of local rock and jazz bands. So if you are looking for live music, creative drink specials, or just an old-fashioned tavern, Taurus offers a good time, any day of the week, and St. Patrick’s Day should be no exception.
